Gym: Got Ali to walk to and from the gym. Had to get him to slow his pace so that he could walk straight. He can do it if he walks slowly. We just have to make this the norm and that he always remembers. Walking awkward for twelve is a hard habit to break. He does well at the gym and is starting to build up his strength and muscles. It’s only been two months.
Friday I will take Ali to Cairo. We will go by bus where his father Akmed will be waiting for us on our arrival (he works in Cairo). It seemed good sense to visit the doctor who originally dealt with Ali at the age of six; the doctor has not seen Ali for twelve years. It will be good for the doctor to see him again, to let us know whether we are doing the right things or make suggestions, or at worse, to tell us that he will never be able to walk normal again; of course we don’t want to hear this but if it has to be heard, then its best coming from the doctor to the father and Ali. I am positive we are making progress and especially as Ali is now able to move his left foot and his big toe ever so slightly. This was not happening when I was first introduced to him. I want to hear good news, Ali needs this and I also need it very much and to know that we are going to get there in the end, slowly, slowly.
