Canal-side Farms & Communities
I pass these delightful farms and houses each and every time I go to Luxor on my bike via the bridge. The rural countryside around Luxor is indeed very nice. Apart from the main road, there are two other roads which take you past these houses and farms, one is right by the canal and is a dirt track and the other a partly tarmac road a little further inland. I went down each of these roads to take a close look at the farms, houses and the peoples who live there, I also get to meet the lovely rural people.

I took this lovely picture of a young girl leading her sheep and goats with her mother following behind. I liked this shot so much that I printed an A4 size photo and went back to find the girl and mother. Well that was not difficult when I showed the picture and was lead to their house. I presented the mother with the photo and she was very happy with it. Naturally I had tea with them and after a very short time the house was filled with people and children from that house and the nearby ones. I just had enough sweats for all the children. The people here are very poor indeed but they all have wonderful smiles on their faces and their hospitality is generous. Only one man (the father of the house) spoke English. I was welcomed to return any time I was passing.
Camels in transit.
Don’t know where they were going but they all looked quite comfortable. I love these animals so much, not for riding but just to look at. One or two camel rides in a lifetime are quite enough.

I always think I have enough donkey pictures and then I manage to see an even younger one. Ah! So sweet.
46c today and the chance to cool down in a canal. You only ever see the children swim in these canals. There is a very common problem with these canals as there is a worm that thrives in stagnant water and many children become ill from this worm. Lets hope that the high Nile and canal water levels give them some protection.
You see these fishermen everywhere on the Nile and canals.
Yes, they are still at the wheat harvesting but mostly it is finished now until the next crop.
This is a very common chilled water dispenser and can be found almost everywhere in the countryside and roadsides.
