Chinese Bikes from Kit form
As you all probably know, all products from toothpicks all the way through to domestic goods and to motorcycles are made in China. All products from China do not have a very good name and are known to either brake or breakdown and not last for very long. They are however very cheap indeed and this is one of the reasons that so many Chinese things are imported.
I purchased a Haojiang 8 motorbike, it is a 150cc and with all the lovely lights and it being red, it makes it a pretty bike. It cost me 4,600 LE (£470) where can you purchase a brand new motorbike for that sort of money other than China.
99% of motorbikes here in Egypt are Chinese and they come in boxes as a kit. One box for all the parts and electrics and another box for the ready complete engine. The frame comes loose. From these box kits the bike shops make up the bikes ready for sale.
Today I took my bike to the shop where I purchased it to have a problem sorted out. They always fix any problems while I wait. I arrived at 3-pm, they fixed my problem. I left after 11-pm having watched Ahmed and Mohamed build a bike from the box of parts. I have to say, it was an experience seeing a bike being built from scratch and with such expertise. The box of parts are in the hundreds if not a thousand pieces. Every piece, nuts and bolts, the guys knew each piece and what it was for. They built the bike without any written instructions at all. When they finished building it and started it up, it worked perfectly.
I had with them many teas, juices and a wonderful meal. The family have become friends and if they do not see me for a while, they ask about me. Sometimes when they fix a problem with my bike they do not charge me anything.
Here are some pictures building the bike from frame upwards. It is a Haojiang 3. 150cc.
