Dig Sites - Various - West Bank
Amenhotep III Mortuary Temple - Memnon
This is has to be my most favourite dig. It is close to me and there is always a very large workforce there. No matter when I pass I manage to see something going on that is quite special to the day.

This is has to be my most favourite dig. It is close to me and there is always a very large workforce there. No matter when I pass I manage to see something going on that is quite special to the day.
It also has to be the most secret and protected dig site here on the West Bank. It amazes me just how many of their finds are covered in white sheets so that you have no idea what is under.
This picture I love because it adds to the whole secrecy of the dig. There are two men wearing white overalls and face masks. There is something in the white covered cubicle that they are cleaning while having equipment suck the dust out. As I wonder what it is I realise only too well that I will have to wait some time before discovering what it is that is under the covering. No good asking because they will not tell you anything.

Amenhotep III Palace - Maljata
Well, you will remember my excitement when I found that they had started working on this site. I went there and saw a lot of people walking around and they had just had a delivery of new mud bricks.

Tuthmosis III Temple - Sheik Abu El Qurna
Ramesseum
Very quite, No work being done and the pit shaft where the five Tombs and Canopic jars were found looked quite lonely.
There are some magnificent walls that have been reconstructed and it has made the whole Ramesseum site so much larger. It will indeed be a great site to visit when it is all open to the public.
Isis Temple - Shelwit
Isis Temple - Shelwit
No evidence of work being done here. It might be that they are working inside the temple.
The Isis Temple was supposed to open to the public in March. The writing on this board is small so I will put it here.
The Job Creation through Cultural Resource Management in Luxor Project is provided by the American people through the United Staes Agency for international Development (USAID)
The project is preparing the Isis Temple of Deir Shelwit for visitor access and implementing site improvements such as debris cleaning, upgrading temple access, building a facility for WC and signage. Inside the temple the project will utilise a Photography and Conservation Field School training program to document, clean and conserve the decorated surfaces.
