Kha Tomb TT8 - Deir el-Medina - Luxor
Kha Tomb TT8
The Pyramid Chapel of Kha and his wife Merit.
Architect - Foreman/Overseer of works - Chief of the Great Place.
18/19th Dynasty - Deir El-Medina
Kha was responsible for projects constructed during the reigns of three kings: Amenhotep II, Tuthmosis IV and Amenhotep III.
Discovered by Arthur Weigall and Ernesto Schiaparelli in 1906. It was one of the greatest discoveries of the time for an ancient tomb to be found in tact. The Pyramidion of the chapel was sadly removed by an earlier excavator and is now in the Louvre Museum. A wonderful array of Funerary objects were found in this tomb and is now on display in the Turin Museum. It still has some wonderful coloured walls and ceiling depicting ancient scenes.
Not many visitors to the area will know about this very small and tucked away tomb. It requires no ticket to see. It is a great find if you are not aware of it and very rewarding to add to your tombs visited list.
I was able to wonder around the area freely with no hassle; I hope it will be the same for you if you choose to visit.
