Ptah Shrine - Hidden only seen from Mt. Meret Seger
Another great find. I was given the location of this site by a friend of a friend over a cup if coffee.
I am told that the shrine site is from the Rameses III period.
The Shrine and carvings are completely unseen and hidden from the road. You have to climb the Mt. Meret Seger and look down to see it, its towards the Queens Valley. It has had wooden shades made to protect the coloured carvings and drawings from the sun. Although the shades look fairly new, it makes you wonder just how long it has been out in the sun and yet there still remains much colour.

It was a wonderful and breathtaking view from the top of the mountain. I took a nice long rest enjoying the views before descending down to the shrine. My approach to it was completely out of sight by anyone.
Down to the shrine site. The shrine is in the centre of this photo.
The site is totally hidden from the road below and faces West.
Top right Picture: To the left and under the overhanging rock are the following carvings
This tomb is undecorated. There is a very nice square cut chamber at the back and a further tunnel to the left that leads down. It is probable that this was used as a later burial chamber. All the coloured carvings and drawings are on the outside of the shrine.
Halfway down the mountain to the Shrine Site.
Top left; lunch being delivered to the police house. Top right; The Ramesseum.
It ceases to amaze me just how much there is out there that the general tourist does not see or even know about, places where no ticket is necessary and are not open to the public. I got to know about this one over a cup of coffee with a lady friend. I hope that there are many more for me to find.
