Tomb Workers Way Camp - Graffiti
The Tomb Workers Way Camp is one of my favorite places and because of its location; it is peaceful, calm and tranquil. It is far enough away from human activity to be a place of bliss.
There is a huge amount of graffiti there to be seen. I can sit there and imagine the workmen of ancient times having free time on their hands to wonder amongst the rocks and make their own mark for history, and indeed they did so.
Sadly a great deal of the graffiti has been vandalized and scratched over. It has stood there for more than 3,500 years and modern man has now taken it away from us.
It is a very well kept area where you can see the small buildings that they would have eat and slept in. There beds are made up of stone and in filled with soil or sand.
You can get there either from the Kings Valley or from Deir el Medina. From Medina it is not a scary walk and only requires a small amount of walking over rocks. From the Kings Valley the pathways are good but it’s a climb. I took my sister and a 74-year-old lady friend there from the Kings Valley. My friend was so pleased to have done the walk as the sight of the Way Camp appeared over the final rise was very welcoming and rewarding. Well done I thought.
