Local Wedding - Dabyaa - Luxor
I was invited to a wedding by the family of the bride (the sister of a friend, Eslam) I have been to many weddings but only invited by another guests. On this occasion my invite was direct from the family. It was a great and wonderful two day party. The first day the bride wore a purple dress and on the second day a white dress. The party was at my friend Eslam's house near to the Luxor bridge at Dabyaa.
I think there were more children than adults. I was the only Westerner there so as you can imagine I was a bit of a novelty and again especially with the young children. I think I got more attention than the bride. I have never been with so many really friendly and happy local people, all were so polite and nice to talk to. With the younger element, they all want to practice their English with me; some of them are really good. One friend of Eslam was an intellect, he was asking me many things and my opinions on various subjects. He spoke so well.
They got me dancing, yes! And just when I thought I was retired from all that sort of thing. All the ladies were laughing and some men were taking movies on their phones. It was great and I really did enjoy myself. As soon as I got my camera out, well yes, you guess, the children were there all wanting to be in the photo. I took many pictures and printed them off for the family as a present. I was honoured to be invited to this wedding by the family and they constantly looked out for me during the evenings.
