Kharga & Dakhla Oasis - Travelogue
What an amazing experience travelling through the desert to these oasis. For me it was my first time, so seeing the rock structures, formation of the landscape and colours of the desert was quite wonderful.
There were two parts to the trip, Luxor to Kharga (334 klm-208 ml) and Kharga to Dakhla (170 klm-106 ml). The views of the ever-unfolding landscapes and undulating sand dunes were magnificent. It is natures wild way of sculpturing the desert over many a millennium. It was great to see the changing colours from early morning to sunset and after.
There are so many sites, temples and tombs to see at both these oasis areas. Kharga is a great town with some of the best shops I have seen and not what you would expect in such a far away oasis. Dakhla is smaller and again is a well-structured town with all the amenities. It’s just so nice to see another side of life in Egypt.
We went for three days and managed to visit nine sites. I will defiantly go again but for longer next time, as the journey to get there is quite a long one.
I will be writing articles on each of these sites.
