Qurna Quarries.
Fifteen of us had a delightful morning. Quite different from visiting tombs and temples and made a nice change. We went to a gallery where there was some Pharaonic Graffiti – A chariot with rider, a bowman, man with stick and some other figures and a solar boat. The walk took us past the Pharaonic area and a Coptic area. These caves and quarry galleries are at the beginning of the Mulak Wadi, which is 4.5 km long. Stone cut from these quarries were used for the Amenhotep III and Hatshepsut Mortuary Temples. It’s a lovely peaceful area with amazing views.
