Sheik Abd El Qurna Mosque
The Mosque sites on top of Sheik Abd El Qurna Hill and commands a fantastic view across to Deir El Bahari, The Asasif, Khokha and Sheik Abd El Qurna below.
It is easy to imagine what it once must have looked like when all the houses were around the Mosque and with the locals going about their own business. Now it is the only building that sits on top of the hill.

There is a tomb directly underneath the Mosque - TT72 with many more amazing tombs nearby and around it.
Re Tomb TT72 – Sheik Abd El Qurna
Directly under the Mosque is Re Tomb TT72 (also named Ray, Ra) – First Prophet of Amun in the Mortuary Temple of Tuthmosis III. The tomb dates to the reigns of Thutmose III and Amenhotep II respectively – 18th Dynasty.
Each side of the entrance are the remains of false doors.
The stunning views as seen from the Mosque.
You do not need a ticket to visit the Mosque but usually a Guardian will insist on going with you, apparently for safety.
