There is a major project under way at Tod (Moro) on the West Bank by the Police Checkpoint and crossroads that lead to the Memnon.
They are digging out two sections of the canals south of the crossroads at the bridge. Looking towards the Memnon, the canal on the right (Photo 1) has been dug out quite deeply and has exposed some very old brickwork. To the left and on the track leading to Espa and a school, they are laying square water ducts at the bottom of the dug out canal.
A local man told me that after laying the water ducts, they would fill in the canal between the school and the bridge and make the road wider. Apparently two small children fell into the canal last year from the nearby busy school and drowned. (Photos 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6)
The school is precious; the children’s lives are precious. I commend the good work being done here by the authorities in an aid to save future lives. Well done Luxor.
